About

My name is Tom Griffin and I am a business analyst. I analyze problems and facilitate discussions in efforts to understand requirements and design solutions.

I differ from most authors in that I am not omnipotent or omniscient. In fact, I have made a lot of mistakes in my work. This blog reflects what I should have done, could have done, and in some cases what I actually did—but most of my writing is about what I have learned, unfortunately for me, the hard way.

I work with analysts, project managers, information architects, customers, users, designers, developers, marketers, and product managers. Our roles are all very different, but we have one important thing in common:

We are looking for a better way.

Business Redefined is devoted to improving the way we bring business and technology together. It’s not about Web 2.0, social networking, p2p, Adwords, monetizing eyeballs, or building a company to flip to Google or Yahoo. Instead, it’s about two things:

  1. Understanding our customers
  2. Using effective technology to build products and services meeting their needs

If you’re interested in improving the way we define requirements and design solutions, if you find yourself sparking provocative conversations on usability, quality, or process improvements in your free time, and if you go out of your way to help everyone in your office see that there is truly a better way to do things, pull up a chair and stay awhile.
